The IBTX Retirement Exchange Solution

A New Type of Multiple Employer Plan

By Kelly McGrath, Retirement & Wealth Consultant

Traditional Multiple Employer Plans VS New Multiple Employer Plan (MEP)

With a traditional approach to an MEP, employers who join the plan have to be a part of an association or in the same industry as each other, and additionally have to have the same plan provisions across the board. With IBTX’s new MEP offering, any employer can join any plan, and each employer can have their own unique plan provisions. Also note, employers are not subjected to the “bad apple” rule with each individual employer able to request their own 5500 form if they wish.

Why an MEP?

Economy of Scale With an MEP you have access to institutional pricing and fund options, meaning you get more services for what you pay.

Cost Competitive With an MEP the pricing is based off of all the assets within the plan, not just for your organizations’ alone.

Minimizes Fiduciary Liability A 3(16) Fiduciary handles the day to day plan administration and a 3(38) Fiduciary determines the fund lineup and fund changes on this MEP minimizing your potential liability.

Easy to Administer 99% of the Administrative Duties are handled on behalf of the employer, leaving you free to focus on other aspects of your success.

Compliant We have never failed an audit, and if you are an employer with over 110 employees, you no longer need a full scope annual audit, saving you over half of what you would spend normally.

Teams with Well Known Providers The record-keeper for our MEP offers both Spanish and English websites, mobile apps, materials, call centers and enrollment specialists to make sure your entire staff can easily navigate their new plan.
